How to make the shrimp dip.
Prep-work.
If your shrimp is fresh, season the shrimp and saute them or cook them. set aside to cool. chop them to smaller pieces.
To make the shrimp dip, simply soften the cream cheese with the mayonnaise until soft and smooth.
Add the lemon juice and the seasonings to the softened cheese base, including salt and pepper.
Mix well.
Reserve some shrimp to garnish. Add the chopped shrimp to the cream cheese and then gently mix.
Add chopped scallions and mix.
Transfer to a decorative bowl. chill for an hour.
Before serving, gently mix the dip. garnish with shrimp and scallions. pour in some hot sauce over the shrimp dip.

Ingredients
- 250g of cream cheese
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 250g of salad shrimp or medium-sized shrimp
- 1 to 2 tablespoons of lime or lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Pepper to season
- Salt to season
- 2 tablespoons of hot sauce(any type of hot sauce available to you)
- 2 tablespoons of chopped scallions
Optional ingredients you can add
- Paprika
- Cajun seasoning
- Onion powder or finely chopped onions
Optional herbs
- Chopped chives
- Chopped parsley or dill
Instructions
Prep work.
- Season the medium-sized shrimp, saute them in a teaspoon of oil for a few minutes and set aside to cool.
- Once cool, chop them into 2 or 3 pieces.
Preparing the cream cheese base.
- To a medium-sized mixing bowl. add the cream cheese, mayonnaise, lime or lemon juice.
- Use a whisk or a hand mixer to whip the ingredients into a smooth mixture.
- Add the garlic powder, salt, and pepper and combine well with the cream cheese mixture.
- Taste and balance the seasoning as per your need.
- Reserve a little of the shrimp to garnish and add the rest of the shrimp to the cream cheese.
- Mix gently.
- Cover the bowl with cling film and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours for the ingredients to let them blend well.
- Remove from the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before serving time.
- Add the shrimp dip to a colourful bowl and garnish with the rest of the chopped shrimp and scallion.
- Top the shrimp dip with hot sauce.
- Serve with crackers, pita chips, sliced vegetables, etc.
Storage instructions.
Any leftover dip can be stored in an air tight container and refrigerated for 3 to 4 days.
